Orange County Birth Photographer | Birth Center Water Birth

Hello,

I LOVE photographing birth stories so much! There’s just nothing quite like it! Baby Johnathan’s birth was super special. He was born at Beach cities Midwifery in Laguna Hills, CA. It’s one of my favorite birth centers, I know I’m biased because I birthed my own baby there. But I can’t help but boast about Beach Cities Midwifery. All of the staff members are AMAZING!

Celine was very lucky. She had two amazing midwives helping her on her birth journey, Birgitte Damgaard & Nancy Pol. This beautiful mama had a very quick and peaceful water birth using the Hypnobirthing method with HypnoBirthingOC.

As always, it was such an honor to witness a baby being welcomed into the world. I will never get old of that. I mean, how can you?! Birth is absolutely beautiful!

If you’d like to check out more photos from this beautiful birth, I’ve put together a beautiful photo slideshow of Baby Jonathan’s birth story. Please click here to watch this beautiful Birth Center Water Birth.

XOXO,

Milana

Fresh 48 | Orange County Hospital Baby Photographer

Hello there,

I am so excited to share this session with you all! 7 years ago, when I still lived in Atlanta, GA, I had the pleasure of photographing my very first birth! It was the birth of my cousin-in-law’s baby, Riessa. It was my first time and I wasn’t so sure about it in the beginning, but then once I actually had a chance to photograph that day, I was in loooove! I got what we birthtogs call, “the birth high” and even got “baby fever” in the process, haha. I decided in that moment that I must photograph more births in my future. And that I did!

Fast forward 7 years, my family and I decided to take a month off this summer and travel across the country with our kids. We stayed a few weeks in Georgia and during this time, Riessa’s little baby brother, Wesley, decided to make an appearance! His guess date was still 1 month away, but baby Wesley was apparently ready to meet us! Of course, I’d like to think that he just wanted me to capture his freshness at the hospital and that’s why he made his appearance so early :)

Meeting Wesley was so amazing and I was so excited to photograph him! BUT..the icing was on the cake was definitely seeing Riesa loving on her baby brother! I got so emotional remembering the day I photographed Riessa’s birth and how my love for photographing fresh babies was born on that day. It was definitely a super sweet moment for me!

This is why I do what I do. Congratulations to the Howell family on your newest addition and welcome to the world Wesley Franklin!

If you’re considering having your birth photographed, do it! I promise that you won’t regret it! If you’re still not sure about the whole process, but still want your baby photographed in the hospital, then I suggest a Fresh 48 Session for you! I love being an Orange County hospital newborn photographer! It’s so fun having those fresh moments photographed while you and your baby are still at the hospital, but omitting the actual labor and delivery photos. Please let me know how I can help capture these sweet moments for you!

XOXO,

Milana

Hospital Birth Story | Baby Dominic | Orange County Birth Photographer

Hello dears!

Ohhh how I LOVE birth stories!!! There’s seriously just nothing quite like it! To be present the moment another life joins us Earthside is indescribable and I hope everyone gets to experience this joy at least once in their lives! I’m lucky to experience this over and over and it’s just as beautiful and breathtaking every single time. And I totally admit, I cry at every single birth and I’m not ashamed of it. I know I should be more professional and hold back, but it’s impossible. I get so attached with the families and when that moment happens, I can’t contain myself.

Dominic’s birth story is too cool. He was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange, CA. at 6:20p.m. He is their 3rd and last baby and it was very important to mama to have this moment documented. After 2 girls, both mom and dad were thrilled with their little boy! This mama absolutely rocked her birth and was a true rockstar during labor. Dominic was almost 10 lbs and she delivered him vaginally! So cool! I was so happy to capture his birth story!

If you or someone you know is expecting and would like to document this special time in your life, please contact me right away. I only take a limited amount of births per year and you would need to get on my calendar ASAP. I love photographing birth stories throughout Orange County, CA.

Please enjoy the photos below. If you’d like to see more, please check out Dominic’s Birth Story slideshow here on Youtube!

Thank you!

Why Hire a Birth Photographer? | Orange County Birth Photographer

Hello!

Are you currently expecting and are in need of a birth photographer? Or maybe you’re just curious to reasons why someone would want to hire a birth photographer? I’d love to help answer some of your questions! These are just my personal opinions and beliefs about birth photography.

Orange County Birth Photography 34 #milanaphotography

I feel as if the best part is to be able to look back on one of the most special days in your child’s life.  These precious photos are not only for you to remember the day you brought your child into this world, but also for your child to see one day. What I would give to have photos of me when I was born! My mom has always told me the story of my birth and how I practically “killed” her, it’s a long and crazy story. I wish I could see proof of exactly what happened, lol. I want to see the look on my mom’s face when she first saw me. Did she cry, laugh, scream? Did she look relieved or scared? I was born in Russia and men were not even allowed in the hospital at all. So my dad didn’t get to see me until I came home at almost 2 weeks old! I would also have loved to see his face!  But guess what, your children have a chance and you can give them that.  Birth photography truly is a gift.

Orange County Birth Photography 28 #milanaphotography

When you hire someone else to take the birth photos, it means that your partner gets to actually be your partner and not have a camera stuck in their hands or watch you labor through their lens.  Your partner should be there to hold your hand freely and look you deep in your eyes and tell you that you are beautiful and how amazing you’re doing and how close you are to meeting your baby. There’s nothing more beautiful. I love watching couples grow more and more in love during labor and once the baby is here, the love literally pours out of them. It’s so hard to explain, but it’s so incredible to watch!

Orange County Birth Photography 13 #milanaphotography

I already touched on this earlier, but the moment you get to see your child for the first time is so irreplaceable.  It doesn’t matter if it’s your 1st, your 3rd or your 10th baby, they are ALL so special and every single birth is a memory that must be treasured.  Ask any mama her best moments of her life and she will undoubtedly say the birth of her child or children. I love capturing those memories so much.

But it’s not just the birth mama’s moment that’s special, but the moment the daddy sees his baby, or another mama, or adoptive parents or surrogate parents. I also love seeing the grandmas and grandpas and sibling interactions. They are all so very special.

I feel like I have a million more reasons I want to tell you why birth photography is important, but I’m trying to keep it short. Birth Photography is just awesome! Hire one, you’ll never regret it!

Baby Maeve Birth Story | Orange County Birth Photographer

Hello World!

I had the honor of photographing Maeve’s beautiful home birth. This was a pretty special birth for many reasons. One, I photographed another fellow birth photographer’s birth, which was way too awesome! Christine photographs births and newborns in and around the L.A. area. It’s a little different than photographing a client’s birth who is not really into photography, but Christine was so incredible and never made me feel nervous and I totally felt at home. It was truly an honor!

The other thing that I loved was that this was my very first home birth! I have photographed births throughout the Atlanta, GA area and all around the Orange County and L.A. areas here in California, and also at birth centers, but this was the very first home birth and I was just beyond excited! I have been wanting to shoot one for like ever, and finally this was the one!

And thirdly, it was a BIRTH! Plain and simple! How can a birth not be cool right?!  I arrived close to 5p.m. and Maeve was born at 11:29p.m. Christine did such an incredible job and her birth team was beyond amazing. Her husband and her doula never left her side and her midwife and the assistant were so knowledgeable, calm and just incredible. I wish every mama had a team like hers surrounding them during their birth. And when little Maeve joined us Earthside, ohhhh it was just pure magic! She barely made a sound, latched on like a champ and was just perfection.

I loved how right after she was born, the midwife did the newborn screening check right on their bed, while mama and dad lie down next to her and watched. And then they just cuddled up their baby and hung out on their bed. That part was so cool, no need to travel anywhere. Just relax and enjoy parenthood!

To see more of Maeve’s Birth Story, please feel free to check out the Birth Story Slideshow on YouTube here. Congratulations to the happy parents and welcome to our world Maeve!

If you or someone you know would like a Birth Story photographed in the Orange County or LA areas, please feel free to contact me. I would LOVE to talk with you!

Thank you!

Baby Raiyu Birth Story | Orange County Birth Photographer

Hellllo loves,

I had the honor to photograph the birth of sweet baby Raiyu. His mom Laura and his dad Adam were sooo excited to welcome their little man into the world. Mama’s water broke at 1a.m. on LABOR DAY! I got the call at 6 a.m. and then headed to the Beach Cities Midwfery birth center shortly after. Raiyu made his mama labor all day on LABOR Day and made his grand entrance at 4:09p.m. on September 5th, 2016. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 20.5″ long.

Beach Cities Midwery is awesome, I love that place! I had my 3rd baby girl at the same birth center, in the room across the hall from where Raiyu was born. Nancy Pol was the attending midwife and her and the entire team was amazing!!! It was a pleasure watching them do their magic and document the entire birth story.

Below I’m sharing a few of my favorite photos from Raiyu’s birth. If you’d like to see more, please view their slideshow here: Raiyu’s Birth Story.

Congratulations again to the happy family and welcome to our beautiful world Raiyu!

Baby Victoria Birth (OC Birth Photographer)

Hi friends,

I would LOVE to introduce you all to beautiful Victoria! She’s one special little girl and was so sweet to her mama! She didn’t get her too much troulbe and was out in a jiffy!  Victoria’s dad called me at around midnight to let me know his wife was in labor and I was on alert.  Then I got another call at 3 a.m. telling me it’s time! I was at the birth center at 3:30 a.m., Victoria’s parents arrived at about 3:45 a.m. and she was born at 4:12 a.m.! Pretty amazing huh? Not going to lie, I wish one of my 3 births was even half that easy, haha.

What’s even more special about Victoria’s birth is I gave birth at the same birth center just 6 short months ago! Beach Cities Midwifery is amazing and I absolutely LOVE every single one of the midwifes and all of the staff there.  They were perfect! The attending midwife for Victoria was also my midwife throughout my entire 3rd pregnancy and it was such a treat to work with Allison side by side this time.  Definitely a much different experience for me.

Victoria’s mama was a rockstar! She had an all natural water birth and didn’t even make a peep! When she came earthside, she was already surrounded by all of her sweet family. Hope you enjoy Victoria’s Birth Story below. And if you didn’t have enough, check out the Birth Story slideshow that I put together as well here: Victoria’s Slideshow

Welcome to the world little one! Your mommy, daddy, grandma and your 3 aunts are very proud of you already!

Enjoy,

~Milana

Baby Ethan Birth (OC Birth Photographer)

Hello All,

I have such a special Session to share with you.  I had the absolute pleasure of photographing sweet baby Ethan’s entrance into this world.  I just cannot even begin to explain how amazing this journey was for me.  As a mother myself, I felt as if I experienced all of the pain and joy with this wonderful family.  I’m so happy that Ethan’s parents chose me to capture this incredibly amazing moment in their lives.

When Ethan’s mom was at about 6cm dialated, I went ahead and drove to the hospital.  I knew it would probably be some waiting around on my part, but boy I really didn’t want to miss anything! And I’m so glad I did! Every moment was just so special!  Oh and THE moment after she gave it her all in her final push and the doctor raised Ethan up to show her…OMG! I cried! Oh yeah, I sure did. Cried like a baby, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.  It was such an emotional moment for all of us in the room.  I feel as if a bond is created whenever I do newborn photography and then see the babies again when they’ve grown at 6 months or 1 year, it’s truly amazing.  But watching an actual baby being born! Wow! Can’t beat that connection :)

Birth photography is so special, there’s just nothing quite like it.  To experience and be able to capture an actual real live baby coming into this world..how can you top that?  It was just truly amazing! Okay, I know I have said amazing like 20 times, so what. It is!

If you’re an expectant parent and have ever wondered about birth photography, wonder no more! Hire a birth photographer! You will NOT regret it!

Please enjoy just a glimpse of this special day from early contractions, to super active labor, through pushing and parents meeting their baby for the first time and grandparents becoming grandparents…oh it’s just all so beautiful!  Enjoy :)
