I am so excited to share this session with you all! 7 years ago, when I still lived in Atlanta, GA, I had the pleasure of photographing my very first birth! It was the birth of my cousin-in-law’s baby, Riessa. It was my first time and I wasn’t so sure about it in the beginning, but then once I actually had a chance to photograph that day, I was in loooove! I got what we birthtogs call, “the birth high” and even got “baby fever” in the process, haha. I decided in that moment that I must photograph more births in my future. And that I did!
Fast forward 7 years, my family and I decided to take a month off this summer and travel across the country with our kids. We stayed a few weeks in Georgia and during this time, Riessa’s little baby brother, Wesley, decided to make an appearance! His guess date was still 1 month away, but baby Wesley was apparently ready to meet us! Of course, I’d like to think that he just wanted me to capture his freshness at the hospital and that’s why he made his appearance so early :)
Meeting Wesley was so amazing and I was so excited to photograph him! BUT..the icing was on the cake was definitely seeing Riesa loving on her baby brother! I got so emotional remembering the day I photographed Riessa’s birth and how my love for photographing fresh babies was born on that day. It was definitely a super sweet moment for me!
This is why I do what I do. Congratulations to the Howell family on your newest addition and welcome to the world Wesley Franklin!
If you’re considering having your birth photographed, do it! I promise that you won’t regret it! If you’re still not sure about the whole process, but still want your baby photographed in the hospital, then I suggest a Fresh 48 Session for you! I love being an Orange County hospital newborn photographer! It’s so fun having those fresh moments photographed while you and your baby are still at the hospital, but omitting the actual labor and delivery photos. Please let me know how I can help capture these sweet moments for you!
